A Shade Of Vampire

A Shade Of Vampire (A Shade Of Vampire, #1)

A Shade Of Vampire by Bella Forrest

Kindle Edition, 152 pages
Published December 14th 2012

Goodreads Synopsis

On the evening of Sofia Claremont's seventeenth birthday, she is sucked into a nightmare from which she cannot wake.
A quiet evening walk along a beach brings her face to face with a dangerous pale creature that craves much more than her blood.
She is kidnapped to an island where the sun is eternally forbidden to shine.
An island uncharted by any map and ruled by the most powerful vampire coven on the planet. She wakes here as a slave, a captive in chains.
Sofia's life takes a thrilling and terrifying turn when she is the one selected out of hundreds of girls to join the harem of Derek Novak, the dark royal Prince.
Despite his addiction to power and obsessive thirst for her blood, Sofia soon realizes that the safest place on the island is within his quarters, and she must do all within her power to win him over if she is to survive even one more night.
Will she succeed? ...or is she destined to the same fate that all other girls have met at the hands of the Novaks?

First of all I love reading about vampires and yes I am a fan of Twilight :) I found this book very compelling ! I would definitely recommend it.

I appreciated how well written it was and it flowed easily from one chapter to the next. The story alternated between Sofia Claremont's and Derek Novak's point of view. That was exciting as they were both likeable characters I enjoyed .

Even being in a dark atmosphere, in a land without sun, the attractive vampire , Derek Novak, is loyal to his family and friendly to Sofia. His brother , Lucas, was a typical sadistic, uncaring, evil type who wanted nothing more than to overthrow his brother.

As a human Derek Novak, the now dark royal Prince, sought revenge for his mothers death, and joined the Shadow Hunters 400 years ago but his Dad turned vampire soon after, and Vivienne, Lucas and Derek became the monsters as well.

So, to save his family from Shadow Hunters, he took them to an Island called 'The Shade'. I'm guessing with everything that happened, he just wanted to die, but 'sleep' was an option and he has been under a witch's spell for the last 4 centuries.

What happens when he awakes is nothing he ever dreams of..... The Shade has turned into a big community with housing and he has a Harem ...knights and guards. Ahhh! I can't wait to find out what happens! How will Sofia and Derek's love endure the dark forecast foreseen by Vivienne....

  My rating: Loved It!

About Bella

I guess my life as a writer started when I was five; I'd sit under the kitchen table with my box of multi-colored wax crayons (I miss those) and create picture books. Creative writing was always my favorite subject and I used any free time I had to sit down with a notepad. Not much has changed, except that now I have developed vampirish habits: my writing "day" typically starts at 1am. I'm an avid reader, a big fan of cookie ice cream and I'm often travelling. When working I have to disconnect the internet for fear of being endlessly distracted by websites such as www.icanhas.cheezburger.com.

Goodreads

Atticus O'Sullivan, last of the Druids, lives peacefully in Arizona, running an occult bookshop and shape-shifting in his spare time to hunt with his Irish wolfhound. His neighbors and customers think that this handsome, tattooed Irish dude is about twenty-one years old - when in actuality, he's twenty-one centuries old. Not to mention: He draws his power from the earth, possesses a sharp wit, and wields an even sharper magical sword known as Fragarach, the Answerer. Unfortunately, a very angry Celtic god wants that sword, and he's hounded Atticus for centuries. Now the determined deity has tracked him down, and Atticus will need all his power - plus the help of a seductive goddess of death, his vampire and werewolf team of attorneys, a sexy bartender possessed by a Hindu witch, and some good old-fashioned luck of the Irish - to kick some Celtic arse and deliver himself from evil.

A to Z Reflection

Well it's the 3rd day in May and you ask for an A to Z Challenge reflection. Soooo...here it is .
This was my second year I signed up for the A to Z Blogging Challenge. My theme focused on book characters in the entire Black Dagger Brotherhood series by J.R. Ward.

I made an A to Z list of characters and scheduled all my posts, that way, it's easier to edit and write the letter of the day in advance. You don't even need to write anything as long as you have a title . It also makes me feel more organized.

If you don't know how to do that here is a blog tutorial on how to schedule your posts.

So anyway, I'm glad I'm not going for popularity because I fail at it so badly. I didn't think my posts were that exciting or very creative either, but at least a character was portrayed for each letter and it did take time to put together. Through the process I read the novella about Zhadist and Bella and their daughter Nalla and re-read Lover Awakened and Lover Reborn. So I did study up on my subjects :p

The best part was, I met some fabulous peeps. Laeli (is a beautiful name) who blogs about her adventures in running. I met her pretty early in the challenge because she was listed in the 1300's roughly the same block I was in lol.  She also visited me and commented even though paranormal romance isn't her type of genre, she still made the effort to comment on my blog and I appreciate that so much . I also love her posts. She is from Edmonton I think? I'm from Calgary and I know I was meant to discover her because I needed to start exercising and her blog has very useful and interesting information.

Another blogger I met personifies a cute little hedgehog. His name is John Boswell. I think he's a character in some book he helped put together. Click here to see I enjoyed reading his blog and commented on his fancy food of the day.

Samantha May @writingforcollege says: "It's okay to zag when everyone else zigs." That's the story of my life and damn straight it is! She is studying for her psychology degree and wants to be a writer and has some pretty good and sometimes practical advice to share . I thought it was brilliant!

If you haven't visited these blogs than allow me to encourage you to click on their blog links and tell them I said hello.

Well, the opportunity to participate in this years A to Z Challenge has come and gone and I want to thank  everyone who added their blog to the longest linky list I've ever been a part of or seen for that matter .

Kudos to The Warrior Muse (Shannon Lawrence) and Cruising Altitude 2.0 (DL Hammons) for doing a bang up job hosting and commenting on my blog :)
